Flame Angelfish
One of the most iconic dwarf angelfish in the hobby, the Flame Angelfish is prized for its intense red-orange coloration accented by bold black vertical striping and electric blue highlights. Active, eye-catching, and full of personality, this species makes a stunning centerpiece in reef and fish-only aquariums.
🟢 Quarantined (Minimum 2 Weeks) – Fully Conditioned & Eating
Quick Facts
- Care Level: Moderate
- Temperament: Semi-aggressive
- Reef Compatibility: Reef Safe with caution
- Minimum Tank Size: 70 gallons
- Size: Ranging from approximately 3–4 inches at adult size
Behavior & Husbandry
Flame Angelfish are active swimmers that spend much of their time exploring rockwork and grazing throughout the aquarium. They thrive in mature systems with plenty of live rock, hiding places, and stable water conditions.
While generally hardy once acclimated, they can become territorial toward other dwarf angelfish or similarly shaped fish, especially in smaller aquariums.
In reef tanks, individual behavior may vary. Many specimens coexist peacefully with corals, while others may occasionally nip at certain soft corals or large-polyp stony corals.
